The
Willoughby family in 1911 lived in one half of the present Brookfield
Cottage in Manor Road. John was a cowman on a farm; James and Thomas
were market garden labourers. Their father, James (1843-1913), was
a steam plough engine driver; their mother was Ann nee Hartwell
(1847-1920). Both parents are buried in the churchyard, in separate
plots, but no gravestones survive.
